Simon has 20 years of pensions experience. As well as being FPMI qualified, he graduated from City University having read Law and Business. He is a volunteer TPAS adviser and has recently joined the Heywood User Group Committee to help drive the technology agenda forward. He is also a volunteer adviser with The Pensions Ombudsman’s Early Dispute Resolution Team. In his current role, he works in-house as a Pensions Technical Manager and is also part of the Leadership Team at National Grid, helping deliver core administration, payroll, projects and trustee secretariat services to one of the largest DB schemes in the UK. Previous experience includes being Trustee Services Manager for a large multinational company, and 10 years’ independent trustee work assisting pension schemes in distress. This experience has included large scale mergers, communications plan programming, scheme wind ups (FAS/PPF), buy outs and buy ins amongst lots of other large scale change projects and strategic service development initiatives. Driving high standards of member service and improving the quality of his employees are key passions for Simon. Simon is a dad to 4-year-old twins. In whatever spare time he has left, he enjoys keeping active as well as being an armchair sports fan. He tries but fails to avoid being a pensions geek.
