Speaker Profile: Andrew Ward

Andrew is a partner and Leader of Mercer’s Risk Transfer Group, covering defined benefits (DB) consolidation, bulk annuities, longevity swaps, longevity analytics and member options, and is Head of DB Journey Planning. He has been involved in a number of ground-breaking risk-transfer transactions, including bulk annuity and longevity swap deals relating to the Heathrow, AIB, Pirelli, MMC, Serco, ScottishPower, Manweb, TRW, EMI, ITV, CDC and Thorn pension liabilities, in addition to leading on significant member options exercises. Andrew has also played a key role in developing award-winning solutions, such as Mercer SmartDB Streamlined Longevity solution, the Mercer Marsh Longevity Captive solution and Mercer Pension Risk Exchange. He joined Mercer in 1999 and has specialised in the provision of strategic risk and transaction advice to trustee and corporate clients for more than a decade. He is a frequent speaker at external events and regularly comments in the press on these topics. Andrew has a degree in economics from Nottingham University and is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries.
