A fantastic new client-facing vacancy where you will manage, retain and develop a portfolio of clients. You will be joining this friendly Consultancy team who provide first-class benefit strategy and consulting support to their Pensions trustee clients, covering full governance, scheme secretarial and strategic communications delivery. You will be responsible for a portfolio of clients where you will deliver a variety of secretarial and consulting services depending on the requirements. You will have strong DB consulting experience.
We are seeking someone who can demonstrate proactive leadership in the provision of the services leading to clients' confidence and trust in the team with the ability to develop new ideas for services and markets.
You will have previous experience of providing secretarial support to Trustees including the planning and organisation of meetings and liaising with chair/trustees/in-house pension managers. Detailed knowledge of the work involved in preparation/attendance/minutes/follow-up of Trustee meetings is essential. You will have previous experience of Member communication, e.g. trustee newsletters/Summary of Funding Statements.
You will be involved in governance projects e.g. trustee effectiveness, provider service reviews and procurement projects, as well as other Projects (e.g. implementing investment strategy, scheme de-risking and wind-up projects) so a really broad and varied role for someone who is keen to work across all areas of pension's consultancy.
Duties and responsibilities would include:
• Demonstrate proactive leadership in the provision of the services leading to clients' confidence and trust in the team.
• Develop new ideas for services and markets.
• Raise profile of self and Business in marketplace through participation in industry events, financial media and networking.
• Active participation in new business pitches and company events as and when required.
• Share knowledge and experience with more junior team members to help with their personal development and to benefit the wider team.
• Be adaptable and to take initiative on working with clients and on new projects.
Scheme secretarial services
• Planning/organisation - liaising with chair/trustees/in-house pension managers.
• Meetings - preparation/attendance/minutes/follow-up.
• Member communication – trustee newsletters/Summary of Funding Statements.
• Annual report and accounts – co-ordination to sign off.
• Liaising with third parties – including budgeting, maintaining business plans/risk registers, annual returns, etc.
Pensions management and projects
• Communication with members and specific member enquiries/assisting with determination of individual discretionary benefit decisions/IDRP cases.
• Governance projects e.g. trustee effectiveness, provider service reviews and procurement projects.
• Liaising with regulatory bodies/online filings.
• Projects – varying levels of involvement, as required, from specific input to project management role (e.g. implementing investment strategy, scheme de-risking and wind-up projects).
Experience Required/Person Specification:
Your skills and experience will ideally include:
• Strong experience of all types of occupational pension schemes/knowledge of pension's market (gained from a minimum 5 years working in pension's arena).
• Up-to-date knowledge of technical pension's matters and industry developments.
• Competent user of MS Office systems including Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
• Experience of managing third party/supplier relationships and dealing with industry regulators.
• Outstanding communication, numeracy and data manipulation skills (including grammar and adapting communication style to suit audience).
