About this opportunity

You will develop the Group's strategy for colleague pension provision, crafting effective policies and frameworks to improve outcomes for colleagues and the business. This means managing pension risks for the Group (excluding funding) and continuously supervising and improving controls.
You will use broad networks internally and externally to craft a consistent approach to pension considerations including solutions for new regulatory requirements.

Day to day you will:

• Develop and continuously improve Group pensions policy, strategy and business plans considering legal, compliance, reporting and risk requirements, industry developments, and overall Group strategy.
• Analyse trends and influences, both internal and external, to ensure consideration and where appropriate embed in the LBG pension delivery model.
• Lead change to meet strategic goals and strategies delivering through relationships with suppliers and colleagues.
• Responsible for effectively resolving challenging issues and customer concerns, raised by colleagues, members, business and the trustees of the Group’s pension schemes, both informally and when involving external regulators.
• Collaborate with the Group to handle pension matters during corporate transactions, restructures, Merger and Acquisition activity or following regulatory change. This includes managing and minimising pension risk and developing and delivering transitional pension plans for affected employees.
• Where appropriate, identify and implement opportunities for pension scheme simplification including, but not limited to, scheme disposals and wind-ups.
• Lead the annual business planning and budgeting process for Group Pensions with responsibility for all spend within the annual budget.
• Accountable for the content of Group pensions communications materials in all formats.
• Represent the Group appropriately at pension meetings, where appropriate make decisions in line with relevant delegated authorities and lead relations in respect of Group pension arrangements with recognised unions and people forums.

What you’ll need:

• Is professionally pension or actuarially qualified, with deep experience and expertise in developing pension policy and strategy for large pension schemes or corporations.
• Has experience of operating at a senior level representing either Scheme sponsor or Trustee.,
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Is able to develop and deliver solutions and change at scale and across a complex landscape.
• Has proven ability to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders from different backgrounds and fields, to align with shared objectives set by sponsors and trustees.
• Demonstrated expertise in negotiation and influence.
• Demonstrates significant knowledge of pension law and experience of applying this knowledge to all forms of pension provision in a consultative capacity.

And any experience of these would be really useful:

• Experience in the Banking or financial services sector preferred, but not essential.
