You will be one or both of the two types of pension employees described below to apply to this enjoyable long-term contact:
1) You can be a more junior pension's professional able to oversee two members of staff but who will need guidance to complete projects about to happen in the months ahead, and good support from external providers.
Or…
2) You can be an experienced senior pension's professional, (you still don’t have to have been part of an outsourcing project) used to running an in-house scheme, managing a team, making senior manager decisions and advising external parties what you would like done and not vice versa.
The previous permanent post-holder has left, leaving a vacancy that only needs filling on a contract basis as the scheme will be outsourced in the next 18 months. This individual was meticulously organised and there are instructions and systems for every day of the week. You will also have two very experienced pension's administrators reporting to you, who also know their roles inside out. It has been a very happy work environment and we would like you to ensure everyone is happy during this time of change ahead.
You will oversee day-to-day pension management and the administration of the Scheme (which is DB/DC) in accordance with the Trust Deed & Rules. Ensure that the scheme operates effectively and meets performance targets, as well as complying with industry standards. Keep up to date with current statutory regulations and monitor changes in the legal situation for pension's providers and developments in pension provision in order to ensure the Scheme administration is well managed.
You will help to manage the relationship between the employer and trustees, meet with and encourage communication between the Scheme advisers and other key third-parties, and help to raise company-wide awareness of pensions-related matters, via member communications. You will set Trustee meeting dates, prepare agendas, collate and distribute meeting papers, attend trustee meetings, prepare and issue minutes, and provide information and guidance to Trustees on matters affecting the operation of the respective pension schemes. You will assist with Scheme governance ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements on behalf of the Trustees, and provide management/scheme reporting as needed, including assisting auditors with member related questions/requests during preparation of annual audit and Trustee Report & Accounts.
You will have strong people management skills and will take time to review current practices and processes to ensure that they are robust and accurate, seeking to improve wherever possible, and provide day-to-day oversight to ensure that administration runs smoothly and member requests are dealt with in a timely manner. You will show the flexibility to deal with the unexpected, and ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time and the ability to prioritise work, you will also maintain the Annual Scheme Planner for as long as needed.
As mentioned you might take on this role at a more junior management level or more senior level. Depending on which, your experience will encompass all or some of the following:
Delivering excellent customer service and experience in meeting service standards. Experience in cradle to grave calculations, together with related correspondence with beneficiaries, employers and advisors. Experience of dealing with scheme members, employers/trustees and advisers. Experience of complaint handling/resolution. Experience in the calculation/implementation of HMRC requirements relating to benefits and contributions from pension schemes. Experience of working within procedures and standards, quickly and accurately. Previous experience of working in an administration team. Project management experience preferred but not mandatory.
