You will be an Occupational Pensions Specialist (this very different employer works with Defined Benefit Occupational Pension, LGPS & CARE schemes) with a good grounding in pensions who enjoys research work, negotiation support, providing information, advice and guidance at all levels. You will have a good understanding of how pension schemes are governed and operate, and the ability to critically appraise and disseminate complex information (pension's rules and regulations).

Your exciting new career move, taking on a role unlikely to be found in many other organisations, will require you to assimilate and record information and advice from a range of external and internal sources on pensions. You will explain and make recommendations in respect of complex information on pension's matters to colleagues and other interested parties. When required you will prepare a variety of written pensions scheme material for dissemination. You will also understand the equality impacts of pension's rules. You will consider implications of new proposals and government policy, including draft legislation, and advise accordingly. You will also implement pension's regulations and spot any breaches of correct practice.

In this role you will deal with Home Office officials and Secretariat on pension's issues, helping with the agenda and minutes for Scheme Advisory Board Meetings. You will liaise with external advisors. As part of your attendance in meetings with this role you will provide pre-meeting briefings and post meeting notes.

You will be joining a small team (6 in department, 2 focusing on pensions), where you will be able to juggle and manage workloads appropriate to support needed. The company services 8 regions across England and Wales, and on occasion you must be prepared to travel to these regions. This role is situated working from home, with the very occasional Head Office visit in Leatherhead, Surrey, or an odd trip to London. Travel costs will be covered for any meetings or off site visits and the Head Office offers not just free parking but a free lunch!

You will be someone who demonstrates an enquiring and logical approach, alongside an ability to not only analyse the detail but also appreciate the bigger picture and think laterally when necessary. You will have the ability and willingness to absorb, learn and apply a lot of interesting new information. Although you will need a good grounding in pensions already, due to the nature of this organisation and this role, there will be lots of new learning, something you will relish, and enjoy. You will not only have the capacity to on-board information and dissect, but you will be able to communicate (sometimes complex issues) in an accessible and understandable manner to a wide variety of recipients of differing levels and wide range of audiences both orally and in written form.

This exciting newly created role will appeal to someone who is passionate about pensions, wants to understand the schemes they deal with inside out and really wants to make a difference to the scheme members, and justify their function and service provision.
