We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to lead our Support and Engagement team which has a dual role of supporting both internal and external stakeholders with their responsibilities for delivering an effective pension administration service to our members.

This is a truly exciting time to join the manager cohort at South Yorkshire Pensions Authority as we move into a new phase of innovation and an ambitious agenda of continuous improvements to enhance the services we provide to our customers.

We are a growing public sector organisation with a team of around 100 staff who run the workplace pension scheme on behalf of a large number of employing organisations, including Local Authorities and other public bodies, educational institutions and a number of charitable organisations.

You will be responsible for leading a team of between five and ten staff with responsibility for developing positive relationships with our 500 plus employers and ensuring they are able to complete their statutory responsibilities. The team also provides a key technical support function to the internal administration teams, providing training and guidance on the statutory provisions of the LGPS and wider pensions legislation.

Educated to degree level or equivalent (or have significant vocational experience showing development in a series of progressively more demanding relevant work/roles), you will also have experience of interpreting technical guidance and being able to deliver complex technical training sessions in a manner which is understandable to the audience and will require strong presentational skills.

Previous management experience and a good working knowledge of Pension Administration Systems are also key requirements of the role.

From flexible working to job sharing (where possible), we are committed to providing a healthy work life balance. You will benefit from 27 days annual leave, rising to a maximum of 35 days after ten years’ service, as well as having immediate access to join the generous local government pension scheme. If you like the idea of managing people in a specialised environment that is both rewarding and demanding, and where customer service excellence is at the heart of everything we do, we want to hear from you.

Please note that CVs will not be accepted.
