Appointments update - 14 May 2024

Aviva has appointed Jenny Segal and Rene Poisson to its Independent Governance Committee (IGC).

Segal is an actuary, chief investment officer for Nesta Trust, and a professional speaker on workplace culture and helping business performance. She has written three books on motivation at work. She also specialised in leading global sales teams for large asset management companies, with the most recent being global head of distribution for Fidelity International’s Workplace Investing business. Poisson, meanwhile, is chair of the JP Morgan UK Pension Plan, chairs the Advisory Committee for several Five Arrows Direct Lending funds, and is an adviser to World Mobile and Globaltech Corporation. He also previously held roles as chair of the Standard Life IGC, director of the Standard Life Master Trust, and director of the Universities Superannuation Scheme. The appointments follow the departure of Marcia Campbell and Gurmukh Hayre earlier this year and are effective immediately.

Barnett Waddingham (BW) has appointed four new managing partners.

Alex Pocock, who joined BW in 2004, will assume leadership and strategic oversight for BW’s pension scheme, while David Stoddard will lead the firm’s future strategy and transformation plans, and Sam Meldrum will design and deliver BW’s strategic business solutions and infrastructure. Scott Eason will assume leadership and strategic oversight for the firm’s wider areas including risk and benefits consulting, insurance & longevity consulting, pensions & executive management, self-invested personal pensions, and small self-administered schemes. Scott previously led the insurance & longevity consulting business for almost 10 years. Meanwhile, Stoddard brings 25 years of experience to the role and has worked in several strategic leadership roles across the financial services industry. Previously head of IT for 17 years, Meldrum has six years of board-level experience at BW.

Cartwright has announced the appointment of Alex Nadolny and Danny Squire to its specialist project team, following the appointment of Gertrude Sheta last month.

Nadolny joins from Barnett Waddingham where he was a project manager and has 15 years of pension administration and project management experience. Before that, he was lead pensions data consultant at Capita. He also has expertise in scheme implementations, scheme winding up projects, de-risking, and conditional data cleanse projects. Squire has eight years of experience in contracted-out defined benefit pension schemes and joins from First Actuarial where he held the role of senior pensions administrator. Before that, he worked for XPS Pensions Group.
