Broadstone launches trade union pensions consulting service

Broadstone has launched a consulting service for trade unions, providing support on pension arrangements, member representation and regulatory developments.

The consultancy noted that trade unions play a distinctive role in collective bargaining, pension scheme governance and wider policy, while facing the same pensions challenges as other employers.

Broadstone said the service will offer advice, practical support and technical expertise to trade unions.

Services will include support for member-nominated trustees (MNT), assistance with workplace pension negotiations and advice on proposed pension scheme changes – such as when an employer is considering running on the scheme.

The service will also support trade unions in helping members save for retirement.

Broadstone head of policy, David Brooks, said: “The UK pensions system is continuing to evolve with significant policy changes intended to improve outcomes for working people.

“Trade unions have been at the forefront of these debates in championing collective solutions and advocating for better retirement security while also facing many of the same challenges as other employers in delivering value for members.”

Brooks added: “Through the launch of this dedicated trade unions offering, Broadstone continues to show its commitment to working alongside these organisations as pension reforms take shape and to helping build a pensions system that delivers financial sustainability, fairness and dignity in retirement.”
