Isio has acquired Trafalgar House Pensions Administration Limited (THPA) in a move aimed at expanding its pensions administration capabilities and increasing the range of schemes it can support.
The transaction brings together two established administration businesses and forms part of Isio’s wider growth strategy across pensions, employee benefits, and wealth and investment management.
The acquisition is expected to be completed at the end of August.
Isio said the deal would also broaden the administration services available to clients, including support for schemes of different sizes and requirements, from day-to-day administration to more complex projects and run-on activity.
Isio incoming CEO, Dan Thomas, said: “Isio’s growth strategy has always been underpinned by a desire to challenge the status quo, deliver genuine innovation, and expand the breadth of offerings we bring to the market.
“This acquisition marks the next major step in Isio’s evolution, and I am delighted to be joining the business at a time of such transformation.”
“Pensions administration remains foundational to Isio, and THPA is quite simply a fantastic organisation to combine with Isio’s existing business, under Kevin Howard’s leadership,” he said.
He argued that THPA’s experience with larger, typically more complex schemes, combined with Isio’s national footprint and multidisciplinary capabilities, would strengthen the combined business.
Echoing this, Isio partner and head of pensions administration, Kevin Howard, explained that the deal would allow the firm to support a broader range of schemes.
“This is an exciting and important step in the further development of our administration business, bringing together two highly experienced teams with a shared commitment to delivering high-quality service and better outcomes for clients and members.”
Howard added that the acquisition would increase Isio’s scale and capabilities, while supporting further investment in technology and services.
“THPA is a business we have admired for some time,” he noted.
“It has built an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality administration services and, importantly, shares our ethos of supporting the person behind the transaction.”
Meanwhile, Trafalgar House Pensions Administration managing director, Garry Wake, described joining Isio as an “important and considered step forward.”
“Bringing together our highly complementary capabilities allows us to create a true market-leading proposition," he continued.
“This partnership provides us with the scale and robust institutional backing required to accelerate our investment in technology, bringing a broader, more multidisciplinary range of services to the market while continuing to provide the depth of expertise and quality of service that clients and their members rely on.”
Trafalgar House Trustees Limited chair, Raj Mody, added that the trustee was grateful for the service THPA had provided to members of the Trafalgar House Pension Trust and looked forward to continuing its relationship with Isio as the scheme’s administrator.
