Equitix, GRAHAM and Rothesay have partnered with The University of Manchester to invest £530m in student living.

The Fallowfield campus redevelopment project will provide 3,300 student rooms alongside a range of shared amenities. The £530m project will be delivered through a 50-year partnership model between The University of Manchester, Equitix, GRAHAM and Rothesay, with Rothesay providing majority funding for the project. “Britain needs to get back into the business of investing in its own future, and we are supporting the building, investing and innovating that makes that happen,” said Pensions Minister, Torsten Bell. “This significant commitment to sustainable student housing in Manchester shows how institutional investment can achieve that while delivering strong long-term outcomes for savers.”

PensionBee has launched its ‘Born to Retire’ campaign, aiming to change people’s perspectives on retirement.

The provider said that too many people did not picture themselves enjoying a good retirement, and it wanted to challenge that thinking to help savers see retirement as an exciting new chapter, rather than something to fear. The campaign, which will run across connected TV, radio, out-of-home, and digital channels, was created in partnership with Wildish & Co. It aims to reimagine retirement as a time of reinvention rather than retreat, with each scene in the advert tracing back to PensionBee’s consumer research. Travel and hobbies topped the list of retirement hopes, each being cited by 64 per cent of respondents, followed by spending more time with family and friends (49 per cent) and sport and fitness (47 per cent).

Pension Insurance Corporation (PIC) has completed its build-to-rent development, One Eastside, in Birmingham.

The 51-storey tower, which is the tallest building in the city, is expected to open to residents this summer. Built on a brownfield plot previously housing a chemical engineering and advanced chemistry teaching facility for Birmingham Metropolitan College, the former college campus was demolished in 2019 to make way for the 667 new apartments for rent. One Eastside was handed over to PIC after being delivered by residential developer, Sphere Group.
