The Hymans Robertson Foundation has marked its 10th anniversary, having distributed £1.9m in grants since 2016 and supported almost 15,000 young people.
The foundation, which is Hymans Robertson’s principal charitable giving vehicle, has supported more than 11,600 young people through charity partnerships and a further 3,100 through its city bursary programme across London, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Glasgow. Hymans Robertson Foundation chief executive, Marcella Boyle, said the organisation had seen firsthand how practical support, including help with travel, training and education costs, could remove barriers for young people. Hymans Robertson Foundation chair, Paul Waters, confirmed that the foundation would now refresh its strategy while maintaining its focus on financially vulnerable young people and access to education, learning and employment opportunities.
M&G Real Estate has acquired 211 affordable homes from Hyde Group in West Sussex through a £29m investment by the M&G Affordable Living Fund.
The homes, located at the Wildbridge development in Yapton near Chichester, include two-to four-bedroom houses and low-rise apartments across shared ownership and social rent tenures, marking the fund’s first investment in social rent. The fund brings together capital from Homes England, Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) clients and M&G’s £132bn With Profits Fund. M&G Affordable Living Fund manager, Chris Jeffs, said the deal demonstrated the role long-term capital could play in expanding access to energy-efficient affordable housing while creating stable value for investors. Hyde Group chief executive, Andy Hulme, added that the transaction highlighted the role institutional investment could play in supporting affordable housing delivery.
Aviva has launched an integrated 'High Value' protection proposition aimed at helping advisers support high-net-worth clients amid rising demand for inheritance tax (IHT) planning.
The offering brings together teams from Aviva and APUK into a single unit and includes a two-tier underwriting service, covering High Value and Premier cases. New features include estate-planning options, improved IHT-related benefits, expanded Joint Life Second Event eligibility and maximum cover limits of more than £100m. As part of the changes, Aviva has closed the former APUK proposition to new business but will continue to honour existing cases in line with agreed timelines. Aviva managing director, protection, Fran Bruce, explained that the proposition was designed to support increasingly sophisticated client needs and strengthen wealth and estate-planning conversations. Aviva High Value strategic accounts manager, Ben Whatling, added that advisers were seeking faster decisions, clearer access to expertise and greater support for more complex cases.
