Matthew Swynnerton has been elected as chair elect of the Association of Pension Lawyers (APL).
Swynnerton is a partner at DLA Piper, where he heads the London employment and pensions team, advising on all aspects of pensions law. He was elected as a member of the APL’s main committee in 2022, and is also a legal adviser to the Pension Scams Industry Group. Swynnerton commented: “I am passionate about the APL and truly value its unique collaborative and inclusive spirit. Having been actively involved in the APL as a committee member for nearly my entire career, it will be a crowning achievement to take over as its chair later in 2025.”
Nest Corporation has appointed Camilla Egginton to the newly-created role of chief strategy and transformation officer.
Since joining Nest in 2012, Egginton has delivered in roles across the corporation, most recently as transformation director. She is expected to bring both commercial and corporate experience to the role, with a strategic background from a top four consulting firm and Ofgem, the energy regulator. In particular, the group said that her expertise will be “instrumental” in driving forward Nest’s corporate agenda, and help ensure the scheme’s success in a competitive market.
Barnett Waddingham has appointed Alison Murray as principal and senior consultant in its public sector team.
Murray joins from Aon where she worked for over 12 years, most recently as head of public sector (pensions). With a career spanning more than two decades, she has advised a wide range of public service pension schemes, including Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) funds on a range of actuarial and funding issues. In her new role, Murray will provide consultancy advice to public service pension scheme managers and employers across a variety of areas, including governance and risk management solutions tailored specifically for the LGPS.
