Aviva Master Trust passes £20bn AUM

The Aviva Master Trust has passed £20bn in assets under management (AUM), with the scheme now serving more than 650 employers offering a defined contribution (DC) pension and over 650,000 members.

Aviva said the growth was driven by new employers joining the master trust, existing member contributions and strong investment performance.

The provider also reported growing demand from sectors including independent schools and universities.

The provider has continued to develop its master trust offering this year, adding My Future Vision as a default investment option.

The strategy allocates 20-25 per cent of assets to private markets, depending on a member's stage of retirement saving.

Aviva has also launched a financial wellbeing tool for members through its app and online pension portal.

In addition, it noted that it is making greater use of artificial intelligence (AI) to support customer service operations.

Commenting on the announcement, Aviva Master Trust chair, Dr. Chris Noon, said: “It is great to see the Aviva Master Trust reach this milestone and not least because behind the numbers are people who are investing in their future – and that's what really matters.”

He added: “The trustee board is focused on making sure that growth continues to deliver real benefits and good outcomes for members.”

Aviva Master Trust head, Louise Williamson, also commented: “We're grateful to the employers and advisers who trust us with their workplace pension provision and have helped make this achievement possible.

“Scale matters because it gives us greater scope to innovate through technology and deliver service improvements which support the employers and members that we’re here to serve.”

Aviva Master Trust’s latest AUM was reported in Go Pension’s DC Master Trust League Table 2026 (H2).
