Karen Johnston has been reappointed as the Deputy Pensions Ombudsman, it has been announced.
Following a three year term, Johnston has been reappointed by the Minister of State for Pensions and Financial Inclusion Guy Opperman, on behalf of the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions Esther McVey, for a further two years.
After originally being appointed to the role in 2015, the reappointment will start on the 1 July 2018.
Johnston was formerly a strategy lawyer for The Pensions Regulator, where she also served in a leading role in the implementation of auto-enrolment. Before this Johnston worked as a consumer legal adviser at the Office of Fair Trading.
In addition, Johnston has also worked as a trustee for Brighton and Hove Citizens Advice Bureau since 2012 and has served as a committee member on the FCA’s regulatory decisions committee since 2017.
Commenting on the reappointment, the Pensions Ombudsman Anthony Arter said: “Since Karen joined The Pensions Ombudsman in 2015 there have been many changes to the way we work. Our priority is to make it quicker and easier for people to resolve their pension disputes. We have already made great progress in this area and the next two years will see further improvements. I am very pleased that Karen will continue to be part of the organisation during those changes.”
