Appointments Update

LV= has appointed Stuart Wilson as head of marketing for its retirement solutions business, where he will be responsible for raising the profile for the business and commitments to the intermediary market. Wilson joins from Prime Time where he was the marketing director and oversaw the launch of its fixed term annuity proposition. He has over 20 years experience in life companies

Towers Watson has appointed Alistair Byrne to its UK DC investment business, based in their London office. Byrne has over 15 years experience in the fund management industry, researching and consulting on pensions and investments, and is esteemed for his thought leadership in the DC market having produced research and contributed to publications on DC investment. He joins from Investit Ltd where he was responsible for advising asset management firms on product development. He has lectured MSc classes in investment at the University of Edinburgh.

Allianz Global Investors has announced the appointment of Andy Wiggins as head of institutional business in the UK. In this newly created role, Wiggins will lead the UK institutional business development team. He is also a member of the European business development team. He joins from Threadneedle Investments where he was head of UK institutional client relationships.

Scottish Widows Investment Partnership (SWIP) has appointed Neil Tong as senior credit research analyst within its Fixed Income team. The expanding Fixed Income team is one of the largest in the UK. Based in Edinburgh, Tong will be responsible for industrial sector research activities and will report to Laurent Frings, head of credit research, part of SWIP’s UK and European Credit team. Tong has over 25 years investment management experience and joins from Alliance Trust where he was a UK equity fund manager.

Investec Asset Management has expanded its UK institutional sales team with the appointment of Stephen Lee as sales director within its UK Client Group. He will be responsible for relationship developments in the corporate and local authority pension market. He joins from UBS Global Asset Management where he was head of UK institutional business development, and has 20 years experience in the industry.

Paul Jeffries has been appointed head of UK institutional business at Permal Investment Management, where he is responsible for all UK based institutional investors and advisors, advising on asset allocation, portfolio construction and risk management. Jeffries joined Permal Group in 2011 and was an investment manager with The Railway Pension Fund. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and is a CFA Charterholder.

PwC continues has appointed Paul Kitson and Deon Dreyer as part of its pensions risk and investment consulting teams. Kitson joins from Nomura International where he was managing director in pensions solutions and has experience in advising trustee boards and corporate sponsors on mitigating pension risks, including some of the largest pension de-risking transactions in the last few years such as MNOPF and British Airways. He has also advised FTSE100 and FTSE250 companies on pensions issues. Dreyer has joined from the regional investment consulting team for Aon Hewitt and has worked for banks and previously run his own hedge fund.

Legal and General Investment Management has announced the appointment of Simon Thompson as chief operating officer. Thompson joined LGIM in 2011 as head of product strategy and development, and prior to this he was partner and chief operating officer of Millgate Capital. He has over 20 years industry experience. LGIM also announced the appointment of Andrew Hitchings as head of large UK clients and will report to Hugh Cutler, head of Europe and Middle East. He joins from State Street Global Advisors and has over 25 years industry experience in fund management, relationship management and leadership roles.
