Appointments update 20 February 2020

The Investment Association (IA) has appointed Standard Life Aberdeen CEO, Keith Skeoch, as chair of its board.

Additionally, Legal & General Investment Management CEO, Michelle Scrimgeour, and JP Morgan Asset Management CEO, Patrick Thomson, have been appointed deputy chairs. The trio were appointed following a board meeting and vote, and will assume their roles on 1 May 2020. Skeoch, who had been serving as deputy chair, replaces Schroders group CEO, Peter Harrison, in the position.

UK Sustainable Investment & Finance Association (UKSIF) CEO, Simon Howard, is to step down.

Howard, who has held the role for seven years, will remain CEO until Autumn 2020 until the search process identifies a new leader for the association. UKSIF chair, Michael Meehan, said: “Simon and his team have brought UKSIF and its members to the forefront of responsible investment in the UK over the past seven years, and have positioned the organisation very well for the rapidly changing sustainable investment landscape.”

Independent Trustee Services (ITS) has appointed John Lovell as director of governance services.

Lovell has held senior pension roles at FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 corporates including Sainsbury’s and National Grid. ITS added that he has “extensive experience of working with trustees and other key scheme stakeholders on a range of pensions issues”. The appointment is ITS’ second major hire of the year, after Ian Terry was selected as a new sales and marketing director in January.
