Carlsberg pension scheme appoints Barnett Waddingham for actuarial and admin services

Carlsberg UK Limited Pension Scheme has chosen Barnett Waddingham as its actuarial and administration services provider.

The defined benefit (DB) scheme, which is closed to future accrual, has around £500m of assets under management and 4,000 members.

Its sponsoring employer is the Carlsberg brewing company, with Barnett Waddingham stating it was well placed to work with the trustee and sponsor.

On the appointment, Carlsberg UK Limited Pension Scheme, trustee director, Jayne Wade, said: “Barnett Waddingham shares our values and priorities – high quality, proactive and pragmatic advice to help the scheme navigate through the longer-term objectives for the benefit of all.

“Our members remain our focus given the ongoing importance of the pension benefits to their futures. We are looking forward to further building our relationship with Barnett Waddingham."

Meanwhile, Barnett Waddingham finance partner and scheme actuary, Robert Hawkes, said the consultancy was excited to provide the joined-up administration and actuarial services for the benefit of the scheme.

“It is clear to see how much the trustee and sponsor care about the scheme, and the member experience is a shared priority for everyone,” he stated.

Independent Governance Group trustee director, Rachael Collinson, added: “The trustee directors care passionately about the scheme and delivering the objectives for the longer term.

“Barnett Waddingham have demonstrated that same care and we are excited to work with them in this next chapter.”
