More than a third (39 per cent) of pension professionals think that wider promotion of pensions administration as a career is a priority in addressing pensions administration capacity challenges, according to a poll from the Society of Pension Professionals (SPP).
The survey found that 35 per cent of pension professionals believed that consistency and streamlining of data and documentation should be a priority when addressing pension administration capacity challenges.
Almost a fifth (16 per cent) opted for using more technology as a priority, while 8 per cent opted for the better prioritisation of key processes. Meanwhile, 2 per cent said more offshoring.
The poll was conducted at an SPP event that explained how administration capacity challenges are likely to impact pension professionals, discussed how trustees and consultants can help drive solutions to these challenges, and explored future operating models for more sustainable pension administration.
Commenting on the findings, SPP member, Law Debenture head of trusteeship, and panel chair, Jane Beverley, said: “It’s pleasing to see that the wider promotion of pensions administration is seen as a key priority amongst pension professionals.
“There is an increasing recognition of the vital importance of pensions administration and so it makes sense for it to be promoted as a worthwhile, standalone career choice both for young people and career switchers.”
