Hymans Robertson has launched a new hub to help defined benefit (DB) pension scheme trustees and sponsors with endgame options.

The ‘Excellence in Endgames’ hub includes a decision-making tree that aims to identify the right endgames strategy for a DB scheme, develop and execute a plan that puts member outcomes first, and cut through the complexity around the decisions for DB schemes’ endgame. Hymans Robertson said that although buyout will remain plan A for many DB schemes, others may consider managed run-off, alternative risk transfer, and superfunds as their plan A. It also argued that while many schemes have a plan A in place, few schemes have a strategy that considers an actionable plan B.

The Society of Pension Professionals (SPP) has launched a series of videos that aim to raise awareness and understanding of key pension institutions.

These videos, designed for individuals who are considering a career in pensions or are in the early stages of their career, aim to provide insight into what these organisations do, how they operate and the main areas of activity and challenges they encounter. Key industry bodies in the series include The Pensions Ombudsman, the Pension Protection Fund, and The Pensions Regulator.
