News in brief – 9 September 2022

Legal & General (L&G) has announced that it has invested a further £200m in Cardiff to deliver 715 build-to-rent apartments.

The apartments are being build at the former Brains Brewery site in Central Quay, and the development will be delivered in partnership with Watkin Jones and Rightacres, the landowner. The investment is part of a major regeneration project in Cardiff, which L&G has committed £1bn in real assets to deliver. Central Quay is Legal & General’s third transaction in the last 18 months with residential rental specialist Watkin Jones.

Aviva Investors has entered into a partnership with House of Reach, a business development consultancy, to expand its presence across the Nordic markets.

Headquartered in Stockholm and with coverage in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland and Iceland, House of Reach will support the institutional sales teams at Aviva Investors as it continues to grow its franchise in the region across both liquid and illiquid strategies. The partnership with House of Reach follows a similar agreement reached by Aviva Investors with Capital Strategies Partners in 2020, to support distribution capabilities to clients in markets including Spain, Portugal, Brazil and Uruguay.

Administrator MyCSP has launched a podcast aimed at helping members of the Civil Service Pension Scheme to make more informed choices about their financial future and retirement.

Episodes for the 1.5 million members of the scheme will be released every two weeks, with content relevant to current, deferred and retired members of the scheme. Each episode explores different aspects of the scheme and pensions generally, with expert guests and members sharing their personal experiences and perspectives on the Civil Service Pension Scheme. Episodes will cover issues ranging from the gender pensions gap to what happens if members leave or opt out of the scheme.
