TPT has appointed an independent trustee board for its run-on defined benefit (DB) superfund.
Aretas Trustees founding partner and professional trustee, Nadeem Ladha, will chair the board. Ladha is a qualified actuary and accredited professional trustee with over 20 years of experience in the pensions industry. The board will also include Law Debenture professional trustee, Rekha Owen, BESTrustees director, Huw Evans, and Capital Cranfield trustee director, Kate Grant. Owen is an accredited professional trustee and CFA Charterholder from Law Debenture. Owen also brings more than 25 years' experience in the investment industry and has spent nearly 20 years at Mercer. Evans is a trustee to seven pension schemes and chairs six of these trustee bodies – two of which he sits on as sole trustee. Grant is an accredited professional pension trustee with more than 30 years of experience in the pensions and reward industry. TPT said that the appointment of the board is an “important step” in the development of its superfund solution.
Burges Salmon has appointed Gary Delderfield as a partner and Alec Bennett as a senior associate.
They both joined from Eversheds Sutherland, where Delderfield was head of public sector pensions and Bennett was a key member of the public sector pensions team. They advise on all aspects of pensions law, acting for funds, trustees, employers and providers on a range of contentious and non-contentious pensions issues. Delderfield and Bennett have experience in public sector pensions law, supporting both public and private sector clients on matters across central government, education, local government, the NHS and voluntary sectors. Following a string of recent appointments across Bristol, London and Edinburgh, Burges Salmon’s pensions team has grown by 46 per cent in the past 12 months.
Arc Pensions Law has announced the appointment of Richard Meers as a senior associate.
Meers specialises in pensions litigation and adds to the growth of the firm’s practice in this area following the arrival of partner Ben Fairhead last year. Meers has over seven years of experience handling pension disputes at leading city law firms and has acted for a variety of clients, including trustees, sponsoring employers, administrators, and insurers, in a wide range of contentious and regulatory pension matters. The firm is now comprised of 23 lawyers, advising on all aspects of pensions.
