AE worker growth outpaced by non-enrolled workers for 10th consecutive month

Growth in the number of auto-enrolled employees has continued to be outpaced by growth in non-enrolled workers, with figures from The Pensions Regulator (TPR) revealing a 21,000 increase in the number of non-enrolled workers in May.

In contrast, the number of auto-enrolled workers saw an increase of 14,000, marking the 10th consecutive month in which growth in non-enrolled workers has continued to outpace that of auto enrolled workers.

However, non-enrolled worker growth has begun to slow compared to previous months, with the number of non-enrolled workers having increased by 27,000 in April, 31,000 in March and 49,000 in February.

The past month also saw the total number of eligible employers increase by 42,000 to 32,795,000, and the number of employers confirming the completion of their declaration of compliance increase by 14,725 to 1,853,856.

The figures for TPR's 's Automatic enrolment declaration of compliance are compiled from information submitted by employers when they complete their declaration of compliance with auto-enrolment.

TPR said the figure for auto-enrolled jobholders was likely to be higher than that shown in the report, as some employers will have reached their duties start date and automatically enrolled their eligible employees without having completed their declaration.
