Barnett Waddingham has launched a defined benefit (DB) pension monitoring service ‘Lighthouse.’

The service is designed to help pension scheme trustees and sponsors monitor and manage their investment strategy more effectively. It replaces the traditional quarterly reporting cycle with an interactive online dashboard that alerts consultants when elements of a scheme’s strategy or implementation move outside pre-set tolerances. This aims to provide continuous oversight of key investment metrics and supports quicker, more informed decision-making.

Aegon is celebrating the fifth anniversary of its Risk Managed Portfolios

The collection of six multi-asset funds were launched in July 2020 amid the Covid-19 pandemic. The portfolios were created to meet rising demand for transparent, diversified investment options, catering to a wide range of risk profiles from conservative to adventurous. Five years on, the funds manage more than £1bn in assets and support around 17,000 investors. As Aegon’s first widely available Open-Ended Investment Company (OEIC) range, the portfolios follow an active, value-focused approach and have become a key resource for advisers navigating the Consumer Duty framework, offering competitive pricing, streamlined fund governance and a clear focus on delivering positive outcomes for clients.

The Pensions Management Institute (PMI) has held the first meeting of its Administration Industry Group, bringing together leading voices from across the sector, pension bodies and the regulator.

The group is tasked with exploring practical solutions to workforce sustainability, technological transformation and data quality. The PMI has since also welcomed The Pensions Regulator’s (TPR’s) focus on administration in the Market Oversight report. The PMI said it was “particularly encouraged” by the report’s recognition of sector-wide challenges around recruitment, retention and continuous upskilling, noting that these issues have long needed greater attention as administration grows in complexity and scale.
